Hill's View Investments Expects Bumper Carrot Harvest from Otjimboyo Community Garden Otjimboyo, Namibia.

Hill's View Investments is anticipating an above-average to excellent carrot harvest this season from its Otjimboyo Community Garden, with the first yields expected in the first week of September.

The harvest, which will continue for approximately six weeks, is projected to generate around N$375,000 in revenue. Around 25,000 kilograms of carrots have been cultivated on just half a hectare of land, grown under protective netting and supported by a drip irrigation system to optimize water usage and crop health.

To manage the harvest, the project will employ 15 temporary workers and rely on four permanent staff members recruited from settlements in the Otjimboyo Conservancy reflecting the company's ongoing commitment to community-based employment. Sheron Kaviua, Group CEO of Hill's View Investments, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming harvest. "We have had very good growing conditions so far and have been largely spared from severe weather and pest infections. I am very excited about the harvest and grateful to the Otaveva Community, especially to our full-time employees, Mr. Lee, Steven, Olga, and Mama Ndjavera," she said.

The Otjimboyo Community Garden is a flagship initiative under Hill's View's sustainable agriculture program, aimed at boosting local food production, creating employment, and empowering rural communities. With favourable conditions continuing and a dedicated team in place, the upcoming harvest is expected to be one of the most successful yet for the project
